Updated: Jan 20, 2024

Introduction

Fellow healthcare professionals!

If you've ever had to work in a pharmacy during the winter, you probably understand the struggle of maintaining your comfort in a constantly changing temperature environment.

I used to be in the same boat as you, and that's what led me to create Warm Lab Coats. Let me take you on a journey of how this innovative product came to be.

Before and after experience of wearing a winter lab coat at work

Chapter 1: The Cold Pharmacy Shifts

I am a floater pharmacist who go around in different cities to provide pharmacy services. As my job required me to cover shifts at various pharmacies, I soon discovered that not all workplaces were equally warm in Fall & Winter Season. Some were as cold as 16 or 17 degrees Celsius during the winter months. The highest I ever saw was 20-21 degree Celsius in Winter. This is unbearable for me because I am one of those people who is "always cold".

Chapter 2: Layering Up

At first, I tried the typical solution – layering up with thick sweaters, cardigans, and knitted crew necks. For a year, I would dress up in three layers: a shirt, a sweater, and my white lab coat. It did keep me warm, but I was soon getting uncomfortable on my shift. It got hot and stuffy after just a couple of hours into my shifts.

Chapter 3: The Realization

It finally dawned on me that staying warm was not enough; I needed to be comfortable too. As a healthcare professional, staying focused on the job was essential, and being distracted by the cold and discomfort wasn't an option. I decided it was time to find a better solution.

Chapter 4: The Lab Coat Fabrics Experiment

I started experimenting with different fabrics, aiming for a lab coat that would offer warmth without bulk. I experimented with Flannel fabrics, Fleece fabrics and at one point even engineered a new fabric which looks like Lab Coat from the outside but is warm and fuzzy on the other side.

After seven or eight iterations, I found the perfect fabric balance.

Chapter 5: Birth of Warm Lab Coats

After countless trials and errors, I finally did it! I found the ideal combination of fabrics that could provide warmth without making me feel like I was wrapped in a cocoon.

That's how the first version of Warm Lab Coats came into existence – the very first lab coat designed to keep healthcare professionals warm and comfortable throughout their demanding shifts.

Conclusion:

And that's the story of Warm Lab Coats, born out of a simple need – staying warm at work. Now, healthcare professionals can focus on patient care, knowing they'll stay warm and comfortable throughout their demanding shifts.
